As the seasons turn red, we remember the heat of the summer months, wild fires and record temperatures, and welcome the coolness amongst the autumnal colours. Imminent 6 has a feeling of time passing, colours fading, changing light, and the knowledge embedded within the grains of a piece of wood or in the connections of an ecosystem. Imminent 6 is printed in red, with images by Jo Dacombe and myself, and poetry by contributors from: Chris Turnbull, Rupert M Loydell, Andrew Taylor and Mark Goodwin. The issue is available now from Jo Dacombe's shop page, and you can read more about it and the contributors on Jo's blog. 9 people involved in growing their own food were invited to bring something they have grown to the NAE Kitchen and cook together. Sharing stories and recipes. Following the cooking a meditative meal experience called 'Navratan / Nine Jewels' was held. The meal was taken sitting on the floor and eating with our hands. I have been selected alongside poet Ioney Smallhorne to take up residence in the NAE Mezzanine Gallery space, using the building as a base to create work and engage with different groups. I will be exploring creative ways to grow, prepare, and eat food that creates a deeper connection with the earth and with each other. I will be in residence from July to September 2022. From June 26th-29th I'll be presenting a live art performance Garden Mud(ras) at art.earth Sentient Performativities in Devon.
I'll be investigating somatic practices and how they can foster embodied ecological awareness and communication between the human and more-than-human. I'll really looking forward to meeting, learning, and sharing work with practitioners from a broad spectrum of fields, disciplines, and cultures. My work 'Garden Mud(ras)' was developed after a residency at Vegetable Agenda (an artist led permaculture and self-build site) and my research into the ancient Vedic practice of 'mudra'.
