Newarke Houses Museum The Newarke Leicester LE2 7BY Open - Monday - Saturday 10:00 - 16:00 | Sunday 11:00 - 16:00 As the world went on ‘hold’ during the 2020 COVID pandemic, Leicester Society of Artists was forced to cancel its Annual Exhibition for only the second time in its 135 year history. As we emerge out of lockdown the LSA is delighted to be exhibiting at Newarke Houses Museum from 7 - 31 October 2021. Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland are packed with creative talent, including the members of Leicester Society of Artists. The LSA which has been running since 1881 has seen quite a few changes in the last 140 years. The society is a dynamic and diverse group of artists, working in a huge range of media and styles, from oil paintings to contemporary craft, sculpture, print, and collage. This exhibition is one of the highlights of the arts calendar in Leicester where you can see, and buy, new and exciting work by many of the finest professional artists in the area. The AA2A project is a national set of schemes, providing visual artists and designer makers with the opportunity to undertake a period of research or realise a project, using workshop and supporting facilities in fine art and design departments of Higher and Further Education institutions. This gives participating artists and makers the opportunity to use equipment which otherwise might not be available to them, as well as benefiting the institution by allowing students to work alongside, and interact with practising artists and makers.
